Alessandro del Piero has told La Gazzetta dello Sport that he is ‘desperate’ to play in Serie A this season.
The Juventus midfielder is still a year away from his 22nd birthday, and despite having played in the Italian top division for nine years, he is yet to play a game for Juventus.
“I’ve been playing a lot, and I’ve been working on my technique.
I’m hoping to get a chance to play for Juventus,” Del Pieros told the magazine.
The 34-year-old’s time in Turin has been limited by a variety of ailments, including a broken foot, ankle and calf injuries, but Del Pieres hope that this season will be different.
“[I hope] I’ll be able to play, because I know the competition is very good,” he said.
“The Italian champions have an excellent squad.
They are not as good as the champions of the Premier League, but I think they’re capable of winning the championship.”
Del Pieros, who will turn 33 in December, will be one of the few remaining players at the club to remain with the Nerazzurri for another season, having joined on a free transfer from AC Milan.
