How to play: Scudetto on BBC Sport
As Italy’s Serie A title hopes are fading, Scudetti are looking to prove they’re not done yet by taking on the leaders of Spain, Italy and France in the final match of the season.
The Scudettos are unbeaten in the opening four games of the campaign, winning four and drawing two, and are unbeaten since winning the league in November 2013, when they were also runners-up.
They have also only conceded five goals in their last eight games, having conceded just one in their opening five league fixtures.
It is the Scudets first European title since the 2008/09 season, when their first title came after winning the competition in 1961.
It will be a test for Antonio Conte’s side, who have failed to score in three successive matches after a goalless draw at home to Napoli on Wednesday, before the game in the Champions League semi-finals against Barcelona on Thursday.
Scudetti manager Luciano Spalletti has admitted his side’s problems have become apparent, but added: “It’s a shame to lose a game that we have to win and a win we have the right to win.”
We can’t accept that we are not good enough to win it.
“This is not about being bad, it’s about not being good enough.”
I believe we have everything, the players and the coach.
We are in a good position and I believe we can achieve this.
“The match is set to be the first of three meetings between the sides, and the match at the Stadio San Paolo will be broadcast on BBC One on Saturday.
It follows the Scuds’ Champions League victory over Barcelona in the last 16 on Tuesday, when Diego Costa, Paulo Dybala and Diego Lopez scored their first Scudete goals in a 5-0 win.
Scuds have also won their last three Champions League group games against Barcelona, including the 3-0 home victory in 2014.”
Today we have our first home game in five years,” Conte said.”
They’re a team with a very good team spirit, a good team mentality and I’m really pleased.
“The next game against Barcelona is not easy, but we’ll fight, because we’re really motivated and want to show the world what we’re all about.”
It’s an important game for us, but in this group of teams we have a great chance to go to the last two Champions League places.
