Why is there a 50s advert for a new game?
With all of the big news from this week’s NBA Finals, the 50s ad campaign for the new game is definitely the biggest and most visible one to come out of this year’s NBA finals.
In the ad, a young man dressed up as a football coach, who looks nothing like an NFL head coach, explains that, with his new-found talent, he has a shot at making the NFL’s Super Bowl team, while the other coaches on the field are afraid to give him a chance.
This is the first 50s advertisement for a video game.
The first video game ad from the 50’s was for a series of TV commercials for the 1980s, for Atari’s Atari 2600 game, Power Grid.
And the first modern 50s video game advert was for an arcade game, the Super Nintendo game, Super Mario Bros. for the NES.
So, if you’re looking for an old 50s commercial, here’s your spot.
We also love a 50’s ad for a game from another era, as well.
This time it’s from the 60s, with the same theme.
