Tobacco ad firm is in talks to buy online advertising agency
Tobacco ad agency Moulton Advertising is in negotiations to buy an online advertising company that is part of a $50 million deal between the two firms, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal is private and not open to the public.
Moulton and the company declined to comment.
The deal is separate from a deal that is also being worked out between the National Association of Manufacturers and a group of major tobacco brands that includes Lorillard, Altria, RJ Reynolds and Philip Morris.
Moultons deal with an international network of ad agencies including KPMG and WPP.
The firm said it would also work with its existing clients to create new advertising campaigns.
Moultons deals with companies that are active in the field of advertising.
According to the deal, Moultons clients will pay MoulTON $250 million and will have access to the agency’s digital marketing platform.
The Mouloons deal would be Moulmans first with an online marketing agency.
In 2015, Moultons bought a digital advertising firm called S-1 for $20 million.
That firm, which includes companies including Kato & Ruhr, is part a larger $80 million deal to purchase the advertising agency and manage the firm’s advertising.
Mitch Kapor, a partner at Kapor Capital, said that he expects Mouloon to continue its digital ad efforts and that he is excited to partner with them.
“We are excited about partnering with Moulon on this deal,” Kapor said in a statement.
Kapor said he had been approached by Moulons in the past about working on digital advertising, but that he was not familiar with M.P.L.M.A. and the deal was expected to be announced next week.”
We’re also excited to work with Moultmans on future digital initiatives, including the development of a new digital marketing tool.”
